Microsoft has introduced a new category of Windows PCs designed for AI, called Copilot+ PCs. These PCs are equipped with powerful new silicon capable of over 40 TOPS (trillion operations per second), all-day battery life, and access to advanced AI models. They offer features like Recall, which allows users to easily find what they have seen on their PC, Cocreator for generating and refining AI images directly on the device, and Live Captions, which translates audio from over 40 languages into English. Copilot+ PCs are available from Microsoft Surface and OEM partners Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, and Samsung, with pre-orders starting today and availability from June 18, starting at $999. They are up to 20x more powerful and up to 100x as efficient for running AI workloads compared to previous models. These PCs also come with enhanced security features, including the Microsoft Pluton Security processor enabled by default. Microsoft has partnered with leading creative applications like Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, and Express to leverage the power of the NPU and deliver innovative AI experiences. Live Captions now includes live translations, turning any audio passing through the PC into English-language captions in real time. Windows Studio Effects have also been enhanced with features like Portrait light, creative filters, eye contact teleprompter, voice focus, and portrait blur. Every Copilot+ PC comes with the personal AI agent, Copilot, accessible with a single tap on keyboards with the new Copilot key. Copilot will soon have access to the latest AI models, including GPT-4o from OpenAI.
